Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Control Asserted from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the appeals.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
