The Best Couch Co-op Game You Have Likely Not Tried Launches to Switch
Wizard of Legend II, a procedurally-generated quest featuring wizards attempting to achieve status as mythical figures, makes its debut to Nintendo Switch later this month. Gamers can get playable November 25, providing enthusiasts of local multiplayer experiences a second chance to discover one of this year's most impressive additions in the genre.
A Challenging Start
Wizard of Legend II took the path of several niche releases. Its creators launched it in early access in late 2024 on PC platforms, prior to releasing it completely, alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox iterations, in June 2025. When it debuted, it was widely panned. Merely 29 percent of its player feedback are positive. Its Steam reviews are "divided", based on almost a couple thousand reviews, with many gamers critiquing the general lack of polish and litany of bugs at launch. Those on consoles additionally condemned that the co-op feature, a key feature for the game, largely didn't work.
Consistent Improvements
But similar to many pre-release games that debut in unpolished conditions, The Wizard of Legend Sequel has improved. In recent months, the creators have released a series of patches designed to address these concerns. Since experiencing Wizard of Legend 2 more frequently than every other recent title recently, I can confidently say its functionality has improved than it was upon release (on console, at least). It has reached the level where most of the time, I can actually get a multiplayer game to work. Pretty good!
If It Functions, It Excels
And once Wizard of Legend 2 works, it truly delivers. Using an isometric view, you fight through element-based levels by casting spells in Hades-like gameplay. A great deal of dashing, a great deal of dodging, lots of managing cooldowns. This game is incredibly rapid and highly imaginative; through blending your spells with a friend's, you can devise powerful synergies.
Switch Edition Specifics
While the Switch version has not been thoroughly evaluated, it's worth noting the very demanding approval process for Nintendo titles. The developer confirmed via an announcement that the Switch version of Wizard of Legend 2 includes every patch that have been released recently.
