England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test for New Zealand was versus the English side in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Tim Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be during the upcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the opening match because of his participation in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, 36, assumed a position as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the summer after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he stated of his availability: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England pace icon Broad had stated the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," he said.
"Our focus is squarely on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [England's] side that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to England head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
