Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Killer.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their shooter continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow online, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a police operation at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our city”.

The gunman opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Police that searched the inn found two firearms and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, one pupil was discharged from care, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and peers and mourn the loss of his bright future.”

Broader Statistics
