Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against several of the title's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun using personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.
Grasping BF6 Objectives
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. There are four categories of assignments, but although many only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one main guns present in the game.
Some of these restricted firearms may soon make their appearance on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles
This is tough enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game at present, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option at a push if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
Yet, if completing the missions in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these challenging in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in coming revisions.
